Tema: Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, has elucidated her reasons for maintaining privacy surrounding her marriage and family life, despite her prominent roles in politics and entertainment. This explanation comes in the wake of widespread surprise among Ghanaians following revelations of her marriage to the South Dayi Member of Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.
According to Ghana Web, the couple's marital status became a topic of public discussion after Dafeamekpor shared a birthday message for Bright, prompting reactions on social media. Many were unaware of their union until this revelation. In an old video shared by Joy Prime and subsequently reported by Ghana Web, Ebi Bright articulated her choice to shield her family from public scrutiny as a protective measure.
"As a woman, you know how we're raised? Each one of us knows who we are, before we get to where everybody else knows us. You have to decide early on, are you a slay queen or you're going to be leaving the space with your mind and with thoughts," Bright expressed. She emphasized her desire to build a family while advancing her career, making a conscious decision to prioritize her home life over public exposure.
Ebi Bright further explained that she was aware of the demands that public life imposes and chose to keep her family out of the spotlight to avoid unnecessary attention. "I always knew at every step of the way, what I was willing to pay for where I wanted to get to, so I determined that my marriage and my family, my children, was paramount," she added, underscoring her commitment to safeguarding her family's privacy.
She credited her decision to stay away from excessive social media exposure as a key factor in maintaining her privacy. "I kept my children private. I was not all over social media, immediately I changed my polish, I snapped a picture and I post. I didn't do all of those things," she indicated, noting that this approach provided her peace and shielded her family from unwanted attention.
Ebi Bright concluded by reiterating that her choice was deeply rooted in her personal values and the life she envisioned for herself and her family. She remarked, "So, I wasn't all over the place because I knew who I was. So, even if I wasn't a politician, I knew that I still wanted to be a family person. It's the character and it's knowing who you are and being steadfast with who you are. And for me, I protected my family."
