Accra: The Reverend Michael Ayensu, Greater Accra Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Sunday urged Christians to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He emphasized that the Message of the Cross is central to the Christian faith and must inspire believers to live selflessly and actively reach out to others with the gospel.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev Ayensu delivered this message during the Easter Sunday Service at the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Ringway Gospel Centre, in Accra. He highlighted that the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ demonstrated God's willingness to forgive humanity and reconcile people to Himself. Christians, he noted, must reflect these values in their daily lives. He cited Romans 10:14-15 to encourage believers to intensify evangelism, acknowledging that while some may reject the message, others will accept and desire it.
Rev Ayensu called on Christians to pray for peace in communities and across the nation, emphasizing the Church's critical role in promoting unity and stability. Meanwhile, Rev Benjamin Tettey, Senior Pastor of the Ringway Gospel Centre, spoke on the theme: 'The Power of the Resurrection,' underscoring that without the resurrection, Christian preaching and faith would be in vain, as noted in 1 Corinthians 15:14.
Rev Tettey elaborated that the resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith and signifies victory over death and the grave. He encouraged believers to draw confidence from this victory, asserting that the resurrection brought new life to believers and should be a daily lived experience. He assured Christians that their faith is not in vain because Christ lives, affirming Jesus Christ as the Son of God and proving His sacrifice for humanity was accepted.
He urged Christians to demonstrate their transformed lives, grow in their faith, and avoid spiritual stagnation. As the congregation celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, they were in jubilant mood, singing and dancing to commemorate this significant event.
