Accra: GCPP Presidential Candidate Dr Dan Lartey Jnr has called on Ghana to prioritise quality education and character building, stating that the country's future will be determined by the quality of minds it nurtures today.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Lartey made this statement when speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Ghana Basic School Awards 2026, held at GNAT Hall in Accra on Friday, May 22, 2026. He congratulated award recipients for their discipline, leadership, and academic achievements, emphasizing that their hard work and resilience had set them apart from their peers.
Dr Lartey encouraged students to dream beyond their circumstances and to position themselves as innovators and problem-solvers. He highlighted the importance of nurturing a generation of young Ghanaians who are intelligent, disciplined, and technologically driven. He stressed that the future of Ghana depends not only on its natural resources but also on the quality of minds developed today.
He further noted that education is the foundation for national transformation, driving leadership, economic growth, and innovation. Dr Lartey called for an education system that extends beyond academics to instil values, creativity, critical thinking, digital skills, and a strong sense of purpose.
