Accra: Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed concern over the recent floods that have affected several people across the country. In a message shared on his Facebook page, Dr Bawumia sympathised with victims who have lost relatives, homes, and property as a result of the disaster.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Bawumia, who is the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged the public to obey directives from the government and work closely with agencies handling the situation. He emphasised the importance of compliance with government directives and cooperation with institutions addressing the situation.
The former Vice President also called on emergency services and other authorities to step up efforts to support affected persons. He urged emergency services and relevant authorities to reach those in need and assist them promptly.
Dr Bawumia expressed hope that the country will overcome the situation through unity and support for one another. He concluded his message by invoking blessings for Ghana, stating, "We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another. May God bless our homeland Ghana."
Dr Bawumia's message follows flooding in parts of Accra after continuous rains from Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday. Areas hard hit by the floods include Shiashie, Tse Addo, Kaneshie, and Circle, among others.
