Dr Ayew Afriye Calls for Unity in Ashanti NPP Following COKA’s Election as Chairman

Kumasi: Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has congratulated Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, known as COKA, on his election as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Dr Ayew Afriye has urged all party members in the Ashanti Region to move past the regional elections and unite behind the newly elected executives as preparations begin for the 2028 general elections.

According to Ghana Web, Dr Ayew Afriye emphasized that the election results showcased the democratic strength of the NPP, underlining the importance of prioritizing the party's collective interest over individual ambitions. In his congratulatory message following Saturday's regional elections, he expressed his warmest congratulations to Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah and all newly elected executive officers chosen by the Ashanti Regional delegates.

COKA secured victory in the regional chairmanship contest, receiving 658 votes, defeating his main rival, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who garnered 269 votes. Dr Ayew Afriye highlighted that the conclusion of the election should signal the start of a new phase of unity and rebuilding within the party.
