Sunyani: The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for the advancements in the road network within the Bono Region, attributing the progress to the government's 'Big Push' initiative. Highlighting its impact, he expressed optimism about the programme's potential to further enhance socio-economic development across the region.
According to Ghana Web, Dormaahene shared his observations during a general meeting of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani. He noted the steady progress of ongoing road projects and commended contractors for their commitment to completing the work within set timelines. Key projects under this initiative include the Sunyani Outer Ring Road, Sunyani-Atronie-Acherensua Road, Sunyani-Wenchi-Berekum Road, and Jinijini-Sampa Road.
Dormaahene further declared his intention to walk from Dormaa Ahenkro to Accra to express his gratitude to the President if the Accra-Kumasi Expressway is completed as scheduled. This significant infrastructure, spanning 198.7 kilometers, is set to become Ghana's six-lane access-controlled tolled expressway, expected to reduce travel time and enhance economic activities. He emphasized the necessity of strategic measures to ensure the timely commencement and completion of this project to alleviate the challenges faced by commuters.
Additionally, Dormaahene advised Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah to remain focused on his responsibilities, urging him to disregard political distractions. Addressing the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in Sampa, he appealed for peace and called on the community to refrain from violence, citing reports of the conflict resulting in approximately 20 casualties. He urged media professionals to exercise restraint and professionalism in their reporting and emphasized the importance of justice and truth in the judicial proceedings.
Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah assured the chiefs that contractors working on the Big Push projects have committed to finishing ahead of schedule. He affirmed that the Regional Coordinating Council would continue to oversee the projects to ensure quality outcomes. Highlighting the government's dedication to educational infrastructure, he revealed that the Bono Region has benefited from over 200 GETFund projects across various educational levels. The minister reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and called on stakeholders to support efforts towards regional stability.
