DIZEMTAABA supports basic schools with furniture in Kasena Nankana area

Navrongo, July 27, GNA – DIZEMTAABA, a Kassena-Nankana group in the Upper East Region has presented 500 dual desks worth about GH¢100,000 for Basic Schools in the Kassena Nankana East Municipality and the Kassena Nankana West district.

The procurement of the furniture became necessary due to the furniture gap in most basic schools in the area, which serves as a disincentive to both children and teachers.

Dr Dennis Chirawurah, a representative of DIZEMTAABA who presented the furniture to the MCE of Kassena Nankana East Municipal Assembly for onward distribution to GES basic schools said government cannot solve education gaps alone, hence efforts from members of the group to compliment government efforts.

He said education was one of the pillars that built nations and stressed the need for all to support education especially in vulnerable communities to close the gap between rural and urban education.

He said DIZEMTAABA emerged from efforts to mobilize support in response to the COVID 19 pandemic by providing support to health facilities, communities and Chiefs to help ameliorate the plight of the people.

DIZEMTAABA is a registered organization under the company act (2019) of Ghana with the aim of promoting development within communities in the two Kasena Nankana Districts of the Upper East region.

It intends to achieve its aim through advocacy and Self-Help projects, resource mobilization, especially in the areas of Education, Health, Entrepreneurship, Peace Building, Environmental practices for sustainable living and the preservation of the culture of the people.

Dr Chirawurah said, the DIZEMTAABA Basic School Furniture Support Project is through self-help funds mobilization efforts, primarily among natives, friends and supporters of the Kassena Nankana Area.

He emphasised the importance of Education saying, “Education is the bedrock of human and societal progress and members of DIZEMTAABA strongly believe in this having been living examples of what quality education has done in their lives”, and expressed hope that the donation will inspire teachers, parents and chiefs to give their best for the education of children in the communities.

He also appealed to all to make education a topmost priority by leaving no child out of school in the communities and advised the Assemblies and education directorates to ensure that the furniture was distributed to the few beneficiary schools for use immediately.

He pledged that DIZEMTAABA would continue with its fund-raising efforts to procure more furniture to fill the huge furniture deficit facing basic schools in the area.

Mr. Joseph Adongo, the Municipal Chief Executive of Kassena Nankana East, who received the furniture on behalf of the two beneficiary districts expressed gratitude for the presentation.

He said the presentation was timely since children in the area were grappled with inadequate infrastructure including furniture and appealed for more donations of such to improve teaching and learning in the area.

Mr Adongo appealed to members of DIZEMTAABA not to work at cross purposes but stay united and avoid partisan politics to promote development in the Kassena Nankana area.
