Disabled Father of Two Appeals for Help as Wife Demands Refrigerator Before Returning Home

Assin praso: A physically challenged man, Ebenezer Obeng, has issued a heartfelt plea for assistance, revealing that his wife, Abena Comfort, has left the family home to work at a galamsey site and refuses to return until he can provide her with a refrigerator for their business.

According to Ghana Web, Obeng, who resides in Assin Praso with his three children, shared that his wife departed in search of better financial prospects to support their family. However, she has remained away due to ongoing financial struggles.

In an interview on Nyhira FM's Obra on May 25, 2026, Obeng described the immense pressure he faces as he manages childcare responsibilities alone while running his small charcoal-burning business. He expressed his desperation, stating, "My wife won't come back home until I buy her a fridge. I am disabled and I cannot afford it now. I am pleading with the public to help me bring her back home."

Obeng explained that his wife previously sold water but lacked a refrigerator, forcing her to depend on others' fridges to keep her products cool. This challenge prompted her to seek work at a galamsey site to save money for her own refrigerator, which she believes is essential for sustaining their business. The situation is further complicated by the family structure, as Abena had one child before their marriage, and together they have two more, intensifying the burdens of childcare and financial survival.

Abena Comfort, when contacted, explained her actions by stating, "Life has been difficult, so I had to go and work to get money for the family."
