Accra: Ghanaian gospel musician Diana Hamilton has expressed her views on the significance of awards and her outlook on the forthcoming 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs). In an interview with Adom TV on February 3, 2026, the accomplished singer emphasized that her main priority is her ministry rather than seeking accolades.
According to Ghana Web, when questioned about her participation in the upcoming 2026 TGMAs nominations, Hamilton revealed that while she has not personally filed for nominations, she believes her team has submitted entries on her behalf. She further addressed the ongoing discourse about balancing ministry with the music industry, affirming her identity as a minister of God.
Hamilton explained that her work naturally receives industry recognition over time. She stated, "I do ministry. And as I'm doing ministry, industry begins to appreciate it. It begins to give us recognition and acceptance and awards." She reiterated that pursuing awards is not her intention, as her focus remains on fulfilling her divine mission. "We don't set out looking for awards. We do our God-given assignments," she noted.
Despite not actively seeking awards, Hamilton expressed gratitude when her efforts are acknowledged, describing such recognition as a blessing from God. She remarked, "If someone appreciates my work through awards, I would be grateful to God, because we minister through God, and God through us begins to bless people."
When asked about her expectations for nominations, Hamilton stated that she is leaving the decision to God and the event organizers, acknowledging that her team has completed its responsibilities. "We've done our work, so we leave that to God and the organisers," she concluded.
