Accra: The Bono Regional chapter of the Cyber Security Experts Association of Ghana (CSEAG) has taken proactive measures to educate school children on crucial aspects of child online protection and cyber bullying. This initiative comes as part of a broader campaign aimed at building capacity in basic schools across the nation.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joshua Kwadwo Kyere, a member of the CSEAG, emphasized that the sensitization efforts were designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and tools to safely and responsibly navigate the digital landscape. Speaking during the event at Sunyani Ridge Experimental 'C' Basic School, Mr. Kyere highlighted the importance of understanding online safety tips, recognizing risks, and managing the sharing of personal and sensitive information online.
He raised concerns over the misuse of new media, particularly the exposure of children to harmful content on social media platforms. The campaign aims to instill in the younger generation practical steps for reporting and responding to cyber bullying, as well as identifying and avoiding online predators.
Mr. Kyere assured that the association is committed to extending the campaign to numerous schools throughout the region. He underscored the significance of early cyber education as an effective means of protecting children in an increasingly interconnected world.
