Accra: The Office of the President has received cash contributions, medical supplies, food, and essential humanitarian goods from various corporate organisations and institutions to support victims of the devastating 29 June 2026 flood disaster.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by the Presidency highlighted that the torrential rains and subsequent flooding severely impacted several parts of the country, particularly the capital, Accra. The statement noted a significant influx of corporate philanthropists eager to support ongoing post-flood mitigation and relief efforts initiated by the Government.
Senior government officials, including Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency in-charge of Finance and Administration; Madam Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, the Legal Advisor to the President, and Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Presidential Adviser and Special Aide to the President, were present to receive the donated items on behalf of the state.
The statement detailed cash contributions from entities such as SoftCare FM Manufacturing Company Limited, which donated GH? 200,000.00, and the Ghana Institute of Surveyors, which contributed GH? 50,000.00. Major corporate and organisational donors also included the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and Companies, which provided a substantial amount of food and essential goods, such as 1,112 bags of rice, 4,000 bags of sachet water, and various other provisions.
In addition, the donations included medical supplies such as 2,000 painless malaria rapid test kits, 800 cartons of HPV test kits, and a range of hygiene products. Essential household items were also provided, including 3,000 sleeping mats, school supplies, and temporary shelter materials.
Further contributions were made by Scancom Plc (MTN Ghana) in collaboration with Multimedia Company Limited's Flood Relief Campaign, which provided student mattresses, blankets, and relief boxes filled with essential items. Sentuo Group Limited, Ecobank Ghana, and other companies also made significant contributions, demonstrating a collective effort to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.
The statement concluded by acknowledging the diverse range of goods provided by additional donors, contributing to a comprehensive relief package aimed at addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the flood.
