Accra: Mr. Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ahafo Ano South-West, has emphasized the importance of contractors adhering strictly to technical specifications in the execution of the 24-hour economy model market projects. He highlighted that both the contracting firms and the project consultants must ensure that the work meets the highest quality standards and is delivered on time to fulfill its intended purpose.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a sod-cutting ceremony in Mankranso, Mr. Sedik addressed the local chiefs and residents, underscoring the central government's commitment to decentralization and local economic development. He appealed to the community to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the project's success.
Mr. Sedik stated, "Our gathering here is not merely to perform a ceremonial function but to commence a project that will contribute meaningfully to the economic transformation of our district and improve the livelihoods of our people." He also commended President John Dramani Mahama, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Nananom, and other stakeholders for their collaborative efforts toward the initiative's success.
The multipurpose project, funded by the District Assemblies' Common Fund (DACF), is being executed by Cosman 21 Trading and Construction Limited with technical supervision from Eco Planners and Engineering Consult. It is set to be completed within three years. The market will include essential features such as a police post, on-site fire station, integrated clinic, pharmacy, day-care center, offices, and guest accommodations.
Additionally, the project will consist of 250 lockable and open-space shops, aimed at resolving logistical challenges for local farmers and traders. Nana Tabiri Gyansah III, the Paramount Chief of the Mpasaso Traditional Area, chaired the ceremony and commended the government for delivering on a campaign promise. He assured the support of Nananom for the project's successful completion.
