Mpohor: Construction work has commenced on the Kejebir to Mpohor road after years of neglect. The 13-kilometre stretch from Kejebir through Mpohor to Adum-Banso in the Mpohor-Fiase District of the Western Region is being constructed by JUSTMOH Constructions Limited, under government's flagship 'Big Push' programme.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Mpohor area, known for its palm plantations and mining activities, had faced significant neglect in terms of its road network for decades. The 24-month project has brought renewed hope to the local community.
Mr. Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, visited the site to inspect the preparatory work and expressed his excitement over the contractor's return. He emphasized the importance of completing the project within the specified deadline.
"I am happy that the contractor is back on site, courtesy of our President, and we hope that work will be done within the agreed time frame," he stated. Mr. Nelson also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for addressing the concerns of the people by initiating the road construction.
Mr. Justice Amoh, CEO of JUSTMOH Construction Limited, explained that the project involves using pavement blocks as the final finishing instead of asphalt. He mentioned that about 16 million pieces of pavement blocks would be utilized, with preparatory work including the production of crushed rocks for the base and sub-base already underway.
He assured that the project will be executed according to specifications in terms of quality and will meet the 24-month deadline.
The Safohene of the Mpohor Traditional Area, Twaah Kwame, expressed delight over the commencement of the road construction and pledged their support to ensure the project is completed on time.
