Accra: The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has dismissed allegations circulating on social media that accuse the sector Minister, Samuel Nartey George, of misusing public funds. In a statement issued through its Public Relations Directorate, the Ministry clarified that the document being shared online has been taken out of context and does not indicate any misuse of funds.
According to Ghana Web, the Ministry explained that the document is merely an extract from a larger official submission seeking commitment authorisation from the Ministry of Finance as part of routine government financial procedures. Officials highlighted that the request pertains to budgetary allocations already approved by Parliament for the 2026 fiscal year. These allocations are tied to planned projects, operational activities, and program interventions expected to be implemented during the year.
The Ministry further clarified that the request is still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Finance and emphasized that no funds have been released or utilized for any of the items listed in the circulating document. It stated that claims suggesting that public funds have already been squandered are inaccurate and misleading.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to public financial management regulations in executing its duties.
