Col Dominic Buah Set to Be Replaced as NAIMOS Operations Director

Accra: The Operations Director at the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), Ghana's lead agency in the fight against illegal mining, also known as galamsey, Col Dominic Buah, is reportedly being replaced. The change in leadership comes as part of a rotation within the Ghana Armed Forces, which oversees the operations of NAIMOS.

According to Ghana Web, the news of Col Buah's replacement was first reported by award-winning journalist Erastus Asare Donkor. Donkor praised Col Buah for his significant contributions to the fight against illegal mining during his tenure. He noted that Col Buah was a principled soldier who consistently stood firm against various interests to ensure that proper procedures were followed in combating galamsey activities.

Donkor expressed hope that Col Buah's successor would build on his achievements and continue the efforts to tackle illegal mining, which poses a major challenge to the country's environmental and economic well-being. In his statement on social media, Donkor emphasized the importance of maintaining strong leadership in the fight against what he described as a "cancer eating away everything we hold dear."
