Accra: The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) has unveiled the 2026 edition of the 'Ghanaian Banker Magazine,' which focuses on advancements within the banking sector and the Institute's role in upholding professional standards.
According to Ghana News Agency, the launch event took place during the Chartered Banker Executive Leadership (CBEL) Connect, an occasion that gathered banking executives, CBEL alumni, council members, and Bank of Ghana officials. Dr Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) and the President-elect of CIB Ghana, emphasized that the publication reflects the Institute's dedication to enhancing professional standards and asserting thought leadership within the industry.
Dr Ohene-Afoakwa highlighted the 2026 edition as reinforcing CIB Ghana's status as a leader in professionalism and standards in banking. She expressed gratitude towards members and partners for their ongoing support, emphasizing that collaboration among bankers is vital for the progress of the banking sector and the broader economy.
Mr Robert Dzato, FCIB and CEO of CIB Ghana, provided an overview of the magazine's contents, describing it as one of the most detailed publications by the Institute. He indicated that the magazine outlines the current state of the banking industry and offers insights into its future trajectory.
Mr Dzato stated that the publication aims to serve bankers, regulators, and the general public by providing insights into developments and challenges affecting the financial sector. He encouraged contributions from members, bank executives, and other stakeholders for future editions, as the 'Ghanaian Banker' magazine will continue to be an annual release.
The 2026 edition includes messages from outgoing President Mr Benjamin Kwabla Amenumey and President-elect Dr Ohene-Afoakwa. It features an article by the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, on banking's future, an interview with Mr Albert Essien, former MD of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, and a 'profit with purpose' article by Mr Farihan Alhassa, MD of GCB Bank, among other features.
The magazine also presents an economic outlook, budget highlights, and comparative reviews of bank performances. It reflects on CIB Ghana's history and its contribution to developing trusted banking professionals while showcasing the Institute's professional development programmes and financial literacy initiatives.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu, a member of the first CBEL cohort, praised CIB Ghana for the magazine and its ongoing commitment to professional development. She noted that trust, built through integrity and professionalism, is essential for sustaining the industry, with publications like the 'Ghanaian Banker' playing a critical role in fostering accountability and professional standards.
