Sakumono: Christians have been urged to move beyond comparison, fear, and past limitations, and fully embrace the new life offered through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Venerable Anthony Morkehchie Eiwuley, Parish Priest of Christ the King Anglican Church, Sakumono, emphasized that the resurrection is not merely a historical event but a present reality that should shape the identity, mindset, and daily living of believers.
According to Ghana News Agency, Venerable Eiwuley preached on the theme: 'From the Grave to Glory: Living the Risen Life,' noting that Easter marks a pivotal point in history when death was defeated, Christ was risen, and a new life began for all who believed. He highlighted that Easter is not just a remembrance but a reality, serving as the foundation of faith and power for daily living.
Easter, celebrated by Christians worldwide, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead three days after His crucifixion. It symbolizes victory over sin and death, offering hope, renewal, and eternal life to believers. The atmosphere at Christ the King Anglican Church mirrored the joy of the occasion, with parishioners clad in white attire, singing hymns, and celebrating the risen Christ in a vibrant service.
Venerable Eiwuley observed that many Christians, although aware of the resurrection, live as if Christ remains in the tomb, failing to tap into its power and transformation. He compared this to a person unaware of their inherited wealth, urging believers to live in the fullness of what Christ has accomplished. He stressed that living the risen life requires a shift in mindset, encouraging Christians to focus on higher things and not be burdened by past experiences or societal pressures.
He cautioned against life comparisons, noting such tendencies lead to frustration and a loss of purpose. Drawing from Mary Magdalene's account at the empty tomb, he emphasized the personal nature of Christ's relationship with believers, highlighting the transformative power of personal connection with Christ.
As the Provincial Secretary of the Church of the Province of West Africa, Venerable Eiwuley noted that the Easter message assures that difficult moments can transform into meaningful outcomes. Quoting the Psalmist, he explained that societal rejection could be elevated by God for a greater purpose.
The Tema Central Archdeacon also stressed the need for Christians to embrace the freedom that comes with the resurrection. He compared living in bondage despite being set free to a pardoned prisoner choosing to remain in prison out of familiarity.
Venerable Eiwuley called on Christians to move from being mere witnesses to active ambassadors of the resurrection message. He urged them to overcome doubt, leave behind past sins, and rise into new life through Christ, calling for renewed commitment to know Christ and live transformed lives.
