Cement Prices Drop by 20% as Construction Inflation Falls

Tema: Cement prices in Ghana have experienced a 20% reduction, attributed to enhanced macroeconomic stability and constructive dialogues between the government and industry stakeholders, as disclosed by President John Mahama. Speaking at the inauguration of the world's largest Calcined Clay plant situated at the Free Zones Enclave in Tema, President Mahama highlighted the concentrated policy efforts directed at the cement industry over the past year, underscoring its crucial role in construction, housing, and infrastructure development.

According to Ghana Web, by the close of 2024, cement prices had soared, reaching approximately GHS120 per bag for 42.5 grade cement and GHS113 per bag for 32.5 grade cement. This surge placed significant strain on builders, contractors, and the housing sector. President Mahama acknowledged the contributions of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, emphasizing the impact of strong female leadership on the country's industrial growth.

The President extended his congratulations to the management of CBI Ghana, particularly commending the Managing Director for upholding the legacy initiated by his father years ago. Furthermore, President Mahama urged Ghanaian entrepreneurs to focus on succession planning to ensure business continuity and prevent the collapse of enterprises following the demise of their founders.
