According to ghana news agency:ay workshop organized by Friends of Adaklu (FOA), an NGO based in the Adaklu district. The workshop, held at the Residency in Ho, brought together CCPC members from four Electoral Areas in the district. The event was themed 'Strengthening Community Child Protection System for Effective Case Management, Coordination and Sustainable Reintegration' and was sponsored by SOS Villages and the International Justice Mission (IJM).
Mr. Akrobortu encouraged participants to work closely with the Department of Social Welfare, the Department of Children, and other stakeholders to fortify child protection systems and enhance the well-being of children, particularly those who are vulnerable. He expressed hope that the training would foster cooperation, improve coordination efforts, and increase dedication toward creating safer communities for every child.
The Director highlighted that the training aimed to impact the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to ending poverty, promoting quality education, achieving gender equality, ending forced labor and exploitation, and sustainable social development. He noted that equipping committee members with knowledge on case identification, referral, rehabilitation, reintegration, and collaboration would enable them to perform effectively and efficiently.
Mr. Akrobortu commended SOS Villages, IJM, and FOA for their efforts in strengthening child protection systems. Mad Stella Kudah, the Country Director for FOA, urged participants not to handle child abuse cases privately but to report them to law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of not protecting anyone regardless of personal connections.
The workshop covered topics such as identification, documentation and referral pathways, collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare on rehabilitation and reintegration, accessing government schemes and community support, and tracking and reporting progress on child protection.
