Accra: Capelli Sport, an American sportswear company, will provide kits for all participants in the 2026 Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026.
According to Ghana News Agency, this development follows a successful partnership that designates Capelli Sport as the official kit sponsor for the event, which is anticipated to draw over 2000 participants. Each registered runner will receive a high-quality running vest from the international sports kits company.
Race Director William Ezah expressed excitement about this development, noting that athletes will be well-equipped for the competition. He highlighted that the involvement of an international sports kits company as a sponsor has significantly raised the profile of the marathon.
The Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon has already secured endorsement from Ghana Athletics, the governing body of athletics in the country. For the first time, the marathon will feature an electronic timing system to ensure precise timing and eliminate cheating.
The 2026 marathon will include two categories: a 21-kilometer race and a 5-kilometer race, open to athletes, fitness clubs, and running enthusiasts. The race will start and finish at the Trust Sports Emporium (Bukom Boxing Arena), passing through key streets in Accra.
Capelli Sport, which has a presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China, is expanding its global reach through such sponsorships.
