Accra: Police have intervened to halt the conveyance of the late Apostle Prof Emeritus Ing Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's body from the Transitions Funeral Home, citing a court order, as funeral activities proceed at Gomoa Mpota.
According to Ghana Web, the sudden police action comes in light of a 10-day interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court, which has disrupted the ongoing funeral and burial plans. The court order was issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and it temporarily restrains Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, from continuing with the funeral proceedings until a case concerning the late Apostle's will is resolved in court.
The revered leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission was scheduled to be interred on July 30, 2026, following the farewell ceremonies attended by family, friends, and followers. However, the injunction has led to a suspension of all related activities, as announced by Nana Kojo Safo Akofena, Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission. He communicated that all burial arrangements would be on hold until the legal challenges surrounding the Apostle's will were addressed.
Despite efforts by traditional authorities, church leaders, and other prominent figures to mediate and resolve the family disputes over the burial, no consensus was reached, leading to this legal intervention. Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo, a notable entrepreneur, inventor, and religious figure, passed away on September 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence many.
