Kumasi: BOSTenergies has taken proactive steps to address concerns raised by fuel tanker drivers at the Kumasi Depot, ensuring stakeholders that operations will continue smoothly. According to Ghana News Agency, the company acknowledged issues regarding the condition of a loading arm and inadequate parking space at the Kumasi Bulk Road Vehicle (BRV) Park, which had prompted some drivers to consider a three-day strike.
BOSTenergies had already recognized these concerns and engaged a contractor for the replacement of the damaged loading arm, aiming to restore the loading infrastructure to meet operational, reliability, and safety standards. Additionally, the company had acquired land for a new 200-truck capacity BRV parking facility, with a contract awarded for its construction. This expansion is expected to alleviate congestion and improve parking capacity at the depot.
As an interim solution, BOSTenergies continues to lease a third-party facility for parking until the new facility is completed. The company has engaged with representatives of the tanker drivers' union, providing assurances about the measures being implemented. Following this engagement, the tanker drivers agreed to suspend their planned strike and maintain dialogue with BOSTenergies to address outstanding concerns.
The statement emphasized the critical role of tanker drivers in distributing petroleum products nationwide and reaffirmed BOSTenergies' commitment to working collaboratively with the drivers, the NPA, and other stakeholders to resolve issues sustainably.
