Techiman: Ibrahim Bukari Baba, popularly known as 'Game Changer,' has expressed gratitude to the delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono East Region for electing him as their Regional Chairman. He has pledged to unify the party in preparation for the 2028 general elections.
According to Ghana Web, Bukari Baba emphasized in his victory speech that the NPP's mission to recapture political power must commence immediately, highlighting that no victories or losses have been secured yet. 'The agenda to recapture power in 2028 starts from today. Nobody has won anything yet, and nobody has lost anything yet. What is important now is for us to come together and work for victory,' he stated.
He outlined his priority to initiate a unity drive aimed at reuniting aggrieved members and supporters. Bukari Baba stressed the necessity of reconciliation, tolerance, and collective commitment among party members to ensure a successful return to power.
'I will embark on a unity drive very soon to bring all aggrieved members on board. We need everybody. There is no room for division if we are serious about winning the 2028 elections,' Bukari Baba asserted.
The newly elected chairman also urged NPP members to support the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in leading the campaign to regain political control. 'We must show total magnanimity and give our flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, the chance to lead us to victory. We must put the interest of the party above our individual interests,' he added.
Bukari Baba was elected as the Bono East Regional Chairman during the NPP's regional executive elections on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He secured 180 votes, defeating his main contender, Thomas Adu Appiah, who garnered 73 votes, while one ballot was rejected.
In the First Vice Chairman contest, Alexander Gyan emerged victorious with 149 votes. Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed followed with 92 votes, while Peter Koranteng secured 10 votes. One ballot was rejected. Bukari Baba remarked that the election outcome should signify the beginning of a new phase of unity and renewed mobilisation as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
