Blekusu Dunenyo Easter Celebration to Commence on April 1

Blekusu: The 2026 edition of the Dunenyo Easter celebration by the people of Blekusu in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region is scheduled to take place from April 1 to April 5. The five-day celebration will feature a variety of activities, including clean-up exercises, a football gala, a health walk and health screening, a street carnival, a beauty pageant, an artist night, and a grand durbar on Saturday, April 4, followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, April 5.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Nukamewor Raphael, the assembly member of Blekusu Electoral Area and a member of the Easter festival celebration Planning Committee, stated that the celebration reaffirms the enduring love, peace, and unity among the people of Blekusu and the entire Ketu South Municipality. He expressed that this year's celebration aims to showcase the rich culture of Blekusu and the wider Ketu South and Volta Region.

Mr. Raphael explained that the objective of the Dunenyo Easter celebration is not only to build Blekusu but also to serve as a reminder for residents to embrace peace, pursue justice, and prioritize unity across all communities within Blekusu. He emphasized the need for all individuals, including stakeholders, to act as peacemakers in their various workplaces, such as homes and farms, to help resolve any conflicts or misunderstandings for a successful celebration.

He further urged the community to demand transparency and fairness in both traditional and civic governance to ensure equal opportunities for all, welcoming brothers and sisters from within and beyond. Torgbui Agbali III, the Divisional Chief of Blekusu, advocated for a shared commitment and responsibility to make Blekusu a premier town in the region and the country. He encouraged all citizens to contribute to the development of the town.

Torgbui Ahiable highlighted the area's reputation for peace and unity, with traditional leaders and the community committed to maintaining harmony. Other chiefs, including Torgbui Ekey III, emphasized the importance of unity and oneness for community development, urging all citizens to assist in the town's progress.

Invited guests expected to grace the celebration include Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency and Minister of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts, Mr. Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie, the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, and Mr. Felix Akonta, also known as Torgbui Tenuvi II, a Development chief of Aflao Traditional Area, among others. The celebration, marking another significant occasion in the area, will be held under the theme 'Development of Blekusu through resilience, hard work, and unity.'
