Bilinsa: The people of Bilinsa, a community in the Builsa North Municipality, have commissioned a new healthcare facility to improve access to health service delivery. The self-initiated project, supported by natives, Mr. James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for the area, friends, and other stakeholders, will serve the Bilinmonsa, Bilinsobsa, Tankunsa, and Pungsa communities, which make up the Bilinsa area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the facility comprises an Out-Patient Department, dispensary and laboratory units, labor ward, consulting and nurses' changing rooms. It is expected to ease the burden on community members who currently travel long distances to access healthcare services. During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Clifford Apag-Yarik, the Assembly Member for the Bilinsa Electoral area, expressed joy at the project's completion and described it as a significant step towards achieving quality health service delivery.
Mr. Apag-Yarik revealed that the initial planning for the project, including land acquisition and block molding, began in 2012, but foundation and construction work commenced in 2020. Although the building is completed, he highlighted the need for support to commence full operations and appealed to the Municipal Assembly, Non-Governmental Organizations, and benevolent individuals to help provide medical equipment for the facility.
The community has also started constructing wards to stabilize patients with severe medical issues before referring them to the Sandema Hospital. Mr. Apag-Yarik urged residents to continue contributing towards the project's total completion. Naab Kofi Atong, the Chief of Bilinmonsa, commended the community's unity and collaborative spirit, emphasizing that the facility is a testament to what can be achieved through cooperation.
Mr. Solomon Ansoabayie Akogti, the Builsa North Municipal Chief Executive, praised the Bilinsa community for its development commitment and assured continued support from the Assembly. He mentioned that plans were underway to connect Bilinsa and its surrounding communities to the national electricity grid.
Mr. Agalga, in a statement delivered on his behalf, commended the community-driven project and recognized its importance in complementing government efforts. He assured residents of his ongoing support to ensure the facility is well-equipped and adequately staffed to provide quality healthcare services.
