Abotoase: The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Biakoye Constituency, Madam Jean-Marie Formadi, has extended support to residents and traders affected by the ongoing Abotoase Market redevelopment by distributing relief items.
According to Ghana News Agency, the relief presentation, which took place on Saturday, June 20, aimed to assist individuals impacted by the demolition necessary for the construction of a new market facility. The distributed items included roofing sheets, bags of rice, maize, beans, cooking oil, soap, buckets, blankets, mosquito nets, mattresses, roofing nails, cups, and other essential household supplies.
In her address to the beneficiaries, Madam Formadi emphasized that the intervention was intended to alleviate the challenges faced by affected residents during the transition period and to express solidarity with them. She highlighted that some individuals had not yet accessed formal compensation and required immediate aid to mitigate the effects of the redevelopment.
The MP praised the Government's initiative to enhance trading infrastructure by constructing an ultra-modern market and urged residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure the project's timely completion. 'The new market will provide a more conducive environment for trading, improve sanitation, and enhance economic activities in the area,' she stated.
