Keta: The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is progressing steadily across the Keta Municipality, with candidates writing their papers under calm and orderly conditions.
According to Ghana News Agency, the seven designated examination centres-Ketasco, Aborsco, Anyasco, Atiasec, Afiasec, Ketasbusco, and Kedzi AME Zion Basic-were opened on schedule from Monday, May 3, with no major incidents reported since the start of the exercise. Reverend David Dzikunu, the examination supervisor at Ketabusco, along with other invigilators at various centres, confirmed that candidates had settled in well and were conducting themselves according to examination regulations.
Mr. Ferdinand Amuzu, the Public Relations Officer at Keta Ghana Education Service, stated that logistics and examination materials were delivered on time to all the centres. He emphasized that security personnel were deployed promptly to ensure the safety of candidates, teachers, and examination officials throughout the five-day exercise. "Everything is going smoothly. Our candidates are focused, and the environment is conducive for them to give of their best," he said.
Benjamin Asigbui, a candidate, expressed confidence in his preparation and determination to make his school and parents proud. Other students and teachers in the Municipality also commended the Ghana Education Service and the Keta Municipal Assembly for providing the needed support ahead of the examination.
Madam Ami Kumedzro, a parent, along with other guardians, expressed hope that the candidates would perform well and secure placements in senior high schools of their choice. The Keta Municipal Assembly indicated that it would continue to monitor the process to ensure a hitch-free examination until the last paper is written on Friday.
A total of 1,350 candidates, comprising 546 boys and 552 girls from 43 public and 11 private schools, are participating in the BECE in the Keta Municipality.
