Ketu north: Rev Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, has expressed appreciation to a team of doctors and medical specialists from Auburn University in the United States for collaborating with the municipality to provide free healthcare services to residents. Speaking on the impact of the outreach programme at Kuli, Rev Amenaki described the initiative as a demonstration of international collaboration and the Assembly's commitment to improving the well-being of the people.
According to Ghana News Agency, the two-day medical outreach, organised at the Kuli CHPS Compound, offered free health screening, medical consultations, and treatment to hundreds of residents across the municipality. The MCE noted that the exercise brought hope and relief to many residents who might otherwise have faced challenges in accessing quality healthcare services.
The success of the programme was attributed to the collective efforts of stakeholders across the municipality. Rev Amenaki commended the staff and management of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly for providing logistical support and ensuring the smooth implementation of the exercise. He also praised health professionals from various health facilities within the municipality who worked alongside the visiting medical team, ensuring that every patient received quality care.
As part of their contribution, the Auburn University team donated assorted medical supplies to support operations at the Kuli CHPS Compound and strengthen healthcare services in the area. Rev Amenaki described the donation as a lasting legacy that would benefit residents long after the outreach programme had ended.
To express appreciation for the team's service, the Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities organised a special reception in their honour. The event featured a traditional naming ceremony where members of the Auburn University team received Ewe names as a symbol of friendship, gratitude, and cultural integration.
Rev Amenaki expressed optimism that the relationship between Ketu North and Auburn University would continue to grow, leading to more collaborative initiatives aimed at improving healthcare and enhancing the quality of life of residents. The medical outreach took place from Tuesday, June 2, to Wednesday, June 3, at the Kuli CHPS Compound, providing services such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, BMI and weight assessment, eye screening, general medical examinations, medical consultations, and treatment of minor ailments.
