Asuofua: The Ghana Aids Commission, in collaboration with the Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, has successfully organized a free HIV and general health screening for residents of Asuofua. This initiative benefited over 356 community members, providing them with essential testing, professional advice, and necessary recommendations concerning HIV and other health issues.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, the District Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of health and well-being as a top priority for the Assembly. He highlighted that promoting healthy living is crucial for enhancing productivity, profitability, and improving livelihoods. Mr. Alenbilla reiterated the Assembly's commitment to organizing such health initiatives to ensure residents have access to affordable healthcare services.
He encouraged the community to take full advantage of the program to enhance their health status. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the initiative, requesting more regular health screenings in their communities.
Mr. Ernest Asamoah, the HIV Coordinator at the Asuofua Polyclinic, stressed the importance of regular HIV testing for sexually active individuals, especially those with multiple partners, to help them be aware of their status. He praised the stakeholders for the program's success and urged the public to implement the knowledge gained from the public education sessions included in the exercise.
