Assembly Member Urges Responsible Invigilation Following BECE Malpractice Arrests

Twifo-atti-morkwa: Mr Latif Adae, Assembly Member for the Eduabeng Electoral Area in the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, has raised concerns over recent incidents involving teachers being arrested for participating in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) malpractices.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Adae criticized the teachers involved, stating that their failure to fulfill their responsibilities as invigilators compromised the examination's integrity. His remarks came during a visit to Eduabeng D/A Basic School, where he congratulated the 2026 BECE candidates on completing their examinations by providing them with food and beverages.

Mr Adae labeled the arrests as a disgrace, underscoring the need for educators to adequately prepare students for examinations rather than resorting to unethical practices.

Mr Robert Nuamah, headteacher of Twifo Eduabeng D/A Basic School, echoed these sentiments, advising teachers to refrain from engaging in examination malpractices. He highlighted the negative impact such actions have on both the individuals involved and the reputation of the educational institution.
