Adidome: Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Assembly Member for Adidome Central Electoral Area, has underscored sanitation as a key development priority, reaffirming his commitment to promoting a healthy environment within the Adidome enclave.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Fiagbenu emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment, which is essential for safeguarding public health, improving living standards, and supporting effective service delivery, especially in critical public institutions. He highlighted the need for sustained attention to environmental sanitation in healthcare facilities to ensure the safety of patients, health workers, and visitors.
In a bid to address these concerns, Mr Fiagbenu has planned a community clean-up exercise at the Adidome Government Hospital, aimed at improving sanitation and enhancing the facility's physical condition. This exercise is scheduled for May 9, 2026, and will take place from 0600 hours to 0900 hours.
In a formal communication to the Medical Superintendent, Mr Fiagbenu stated that the initiative seeks to strengthen community participation in maintaining public infrastructure while complementing efforts by health authorities to ensure a clean and safe healthcare environment. Activities during the exercise will include clearing overgrown vegetation, removing debris, and a general clean-up of areas requiring urgent attention.
Mr Fiagbenu is actively mobilising youth groups, residents, and other stakeholders to participate, aligning with his vision to position Adidome among the cleanest district capitals in the country. He has also appealed to hospital management to support the exercise by helping identify priority areas and, where possible, providing necessary tools like rakes and cutlasses.
Expressing optimism, Mr Fiagbenu believes that the initiative will not only improve sanitation at the facility but also strengthen collaboration between the hospital and the community, promoting a sustained culture of cleanliness and shared responsibility. Copies of his communication have been forwarded to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit and Mr Dodzi Addison Mornyuie, Central Tongu District Chief Executive, to seek their attention and support.
