Accra: Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, received a warm welcome at the Accra International Airport upon his return to Ghana following a successful four-day official visit to Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. The visit aimed to strengthen arrangements for Ghanaian participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Ghana Web, Vanderpuije's discussions with Worcester's Mayor, Joseph Patel, and other key stakeholders centered on enhancing fan engagement, cultural programs, and community partnerships. Worcester authorities are coordinating accommodation, transport, and facilities for Ghanaian fans traveling to the World Cup.
In a media briefing after his arrival, Vanderpuije expressed confidence in the arrangements made by Ashton Travels and Tour, emphasizing that Ghanaian fans would enjoy their stay in America during the World Cup. He highlighted Worcester's commitment to making the city a "home away from home" for Ghanaians during the event.
As the Chairman of the Committee under Ashton Travels and Tour, tasked with mobilizing Ghanaian fans, Vanderpuije also visited the Black Stars' training facilities in Rhode Island. He inspected fields, sports centers, and accommodation facilities to ensure that both the team and fans have a seamless experience. He was optimistic about the preparations and the potential for Ghana's success at the World Cup.
