Kumasi: The CEO and founder of Nguvu Mining Limited, Angela List, recognized as a leading female mining entrepreneur in Africa, was honored by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during a significant event commemorating the 27th year of his enstoolment.
According to Ghana Web, the ceremony highlighted Angela List's achievements as a symbol of resilience, vision, and leadership. Angela List received a commemorative gold coin award alongside notable figures like President John Dramani Mahama, former Presidents JA Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, and the IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno for their contributions to national security and socio-economic development.
The event, held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, carried the theme "Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision." Commonwealth Secretary General, Madam Ayorkor Botchwey, served as the Special Guest of Honour. Angela List dedicated her award to the over 3,000 employees of Nguvu Mining Limited, a consortium active in Ghana, Niger, Mali, and Liberia, which includes subsidiaries like Adamus Resources Limited and Northern Ashanti Mining Company Limited.
Recognizing the challenges in the male-dominated mining industry, Angela List expressed her commitment to paving the way for African women aspiring to become mining entrepreneurs. She conveyed optimism that more women would soon excel as CEOs, engineers, and professionals in the mining field.
Angela List also disclosed her companies' dedication to creating jobs and boosting the socio-economic development of mining communities. This is to be achieved through scholarships, building schools and clinics, and empowering female traders with financial support, aiming to make a tangible impact on people's lives.
Last year, Angela List received the 2025 Global Power Female Award, celebrating her as a trailblazer in leadership and community empowerment. The award ceremony, held during the UN General Assembly in New York, drew Heads of State, First Ladies, and global business leaders. Angela List was subsequently inducted into the Global Power Women's Network, a platform for influence, capital, and partnerships for women worldwide.
