ASA Savings and Loans Enhances Learning Environment at Nayagnia R/C Primary/KG School

Nayagnia: ASA Savings and Loans, a microfinance and financial institution, has made a significant contribution to the Nayagnia R/C Primary/Kindergarten (KG) School in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality by donating essential furniture and a water storage facility. This initiative is aimed at improving the teaching and learning conditions at the school. According to Ghana News Agency, the donation, part of the company's corporate social responsibility efforts, includes 30 chairs for kindergarten pupils, five hexagonal tables, 10 dual desks, a teacher's table and chair, and a 500-liter polytank for water storage. During a brief presentation ceremony at Nayagnia, Mr. Sadik Mohammed, Bolgatanga Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, emphasized the company's dedication to supporting the communities where it operates, noting that their presence in Navarongo extends beyond business interests. Mr. Mohammed highlighted the company's belief in the importance of investing in education and community wellbeing as a foundat ion for sustainable economic development. He mentioned that ASA Savings and Loans, which entered Navarongo less than a year ago, had already identified opportunities to assist the community, including recent renovations at the Nayagnia Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound and the provision of hospital appliances to enhance healthcare delivery. Ms. Janet Bukari, Headmistress of Nayagnia R/C Primary/KG School, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the school had been struggling with a lack of adequate furniture, often requiring three or four pupils to share a single dual desk. She explained that the kindergarten section also faced a shortage of tables, with only a few in good condition for 41 learners. The addition of the polytank will address the school's previous challenge of lacking a water storage facility, despite having access to a mechanized borehole. The Headmistress appealed for further support to tackle remaining challenges, particularly the need for more teacher furn iture and the construction of a fence around the school. Mr. Norbert Kambonga, School Improvement and Support Officer, lauded ASA Savings and Loans for their intervention, emphasizing the crucial role of societal development in ensuring business sustainability. He encouraged the company to continue its support for the school and community, underscoring the mutual benefits of such partnerships.
