Accra: Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan, Kojo Adu Asare, has criticised some appointees of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, accusing them of arrogance, disrespect, and unexplained displays of wealth. Speaking on concerns within the party, the former legislator said some government officials have begun treating party supporters poorly despite the role grassroots members played in bringing the party to power.
According to Ghana Web, Kojo Adu Asare stated that some NDC appointees are acting wickedly, and it is only the current unattractiveness of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that has prevented these issues from becoming public scandals. He highlighted that some chief executive officers and political appointees have become disrespectful towards party members and supporters. He urged, "Some of the CEOs should slow down and respect us when we come to them."
Kojo Adu Asare further alleged that certain individuals appointed into office are rapidly accumulating wealth in ways that are attracting public suspicion. "People are accumulating lots of wealth within just one year of being appointed into office, and this is making people raise eyebrows," he claimed. He pointed out that many people are beginning to question the sudden change in lifestyles and financial status of some appointees, noting, "These are people we knew not long ago with very little, but now they suddenly have so much."
The former MP emphasized that senior party figures have been advising these officials to be cautious and conduct themselves responsibly. "We are doing our best to advise them to stop these things," he said. While criticising some appointees, Kojo Adu Asare also acknowledged that there are hardworking and humble individuals within the government who genuinely deserve their positions. "Some have served the party very well and through humility and respect, they have earned where they are," he noted.
However, he warned that those allegedly engaging in excesses risk damaging both their political future and the image of the party. "We have cautioned them that they are going wrong. They should slow down because they still have a long way to go," he concluded.
