Nkroful: The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has officially handed over a newly constructed 6-unit classroom block to Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School (NASS) in the Western Region. The project, valued at GHS1.2 million and built by MacWest Construction Limited, is aimed at reducing overcrowding and enhancing the educational environment for students at the agriculturally-focused institution.
According to Ghana Web, during the handover ceremony, Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized his dedication to advancing educational opportunities, describing education as the 'surest way to secure the future of Ellembelle's youth.' He announced plans to further support the school's infrastructure by collaborating on a future 12-unit classroom block to transition NASS into a single-track school system.
Additionally, the Minister lauded the school's headmaster for introducing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and pledged his continued backing for the program. He highlighted the importance of equipping students with practical skills to remain competitive in the modern workforce and committed to collaborating with the District Chief Executive (DCE) to support this initiative.
Armah-Kofi Buah also expressed intentions to engage with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to complete the unfinished girls' dormitory project initiated in 2021 and addressed other pressing issues affecting senior high schools in the district.
The school's headmaster, Joseph Blay, expressed gratitude for the new facility and committed to its upkeep. He outlined additional needs such as a 12-unit classroom block, increased staff, a fully-equipped Home Economics facility, necessary equipment for the Sewing Department, and a vehicle for the school. Blay extended prayers for the MP's well-being, hoping for continued support.
District Chief Executive Joseph Agyekum commended the MP for allocating a portion of his MP's Common Fund to finance the project, noting its significance as the first school project completed by an MP under President John Mahama's administration. He encouraged students to focus on their studies.
Nana Kwasi Kutuah V, Chief of Nkroful, expressed appreciation and urged the MP to advocate for a district hospital to benefit students, staff, and local residents.
The school administration noted that the new classroom block is timely, as NASS's enrollment now exceeds 2,000 students across various programs. Students expressed gratitude to the MP and committed to excelling academically to honor their families.
