Accra: A convener of pressure group Arise Ghana, Dramani Selorm Nudokpo Dzramado, has explained why the group’s recent picketing at the United States Embassy was focused solely on former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta and not other former public officials currently under investigation but living abroad. Speaking to GhanaWeb’s correspondent, Mandy Agyemang, at the event on January 20, 2026, Dzramado said the protest was deliberately targeted at Ofori-Atta and should not be misconstrued as a selective or partisan action.
According to Ghana Web, Dzramado emphasized that the demonstration was not meant to ignore other former officials like Sedina Tamakloe, but highlighted that accountability efforts will eventually address their cases as well. He reiterated that Arise Ghana is committed to pursuing accountability for all individuals involved, with a current focus on Ofori-Atta. Dzramado made it clear that the group’s actions were non-partisan and driven by a sense of national duty rather than political allegiance.
Dzramado also stressed that Arise Ghana operates as a non-partisan civic movement and cautioned members against prioritizing party interests over the group’s principles. He stated that loyalty to the country, not political parties, is the core requirement for membership. He warned members that if they felt Arise Ghana’s initiatives were detrimental to their party’s interests, they should reconsider their membership.
Reiterating the group’s position, Dzramado mentioned that investigations involving other individuals such as Sedina Tamakloe would also be pursued in due course. He emphasized that the current protest was specifically tailored for Ken Ofori-Atta due to his actions as the former Minister of Finance. Dzramado accused Ofori-Atta of engaging in conduct that demands public accountability and expressed concerns about the potential implications for Ghana’s democratic integrity if accountability is not ensured.
Dzramado warned that the absence of accountability could have severe consequences for the country’s democratic system. He underscored that accountability is fundamental to maintaining a democratic government and stressed its importance as the foundation of democracy. The call for accountability was presented as a necessary measure to uphold the principles and longevity of Ghana’s democratic governance.
