APSU 2002 Year Group Mobilises for St Augustine’s College 97th Anniversary

Accra: The APSU 2002 Year Group has announced key leadership appointments to spearhead preparations towards the 97th Anniversary celebrations of St Augustine's College.

According to Ghana Web, the Executive Committee of the group issued a statement declaring the appointments of George Baffour Asare-Afriyie Esq. and Dr Linus Kweku Labik as Co-Chairmen of the Anniversary Hosting and BOLT Steering Committee, with Raymond Andoh serving as Vice Chairman. These appointments, which took immediate effect, aim to strengthen the committee as it transitions into the implementation phase of its mandate ahead of the anniversary celebration.

The statement emphasized that the newly appointed leaders bring extensive professional experience, leadership expertise, and a strong commitment to service within the APSU community. George Baffour Asare-Afriyie, who is a lawyer, legal academic, and international maritime expert, currently serves as Assistant Secretary of APSU USA. He holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School, among other qualifications, and has served on the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organisation.

Dr Linus Kweku Labik, an astrophysicist and lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), focuses his research on planetary formation. He also provides technical support to the National Hilal Committee under the Office of the National Chief Imam and leads interdisciplinary research at the AstroXMat Research Lab. Dr Labik has served as Convenor of the APSU 2002 Year Group since December 2019, leading preparations for the college's 97th Anniversary celebrations.

Raymond Andoh, the newly appointed Vice Chairman, is an ICT Engineer with over 17 years of experience, particularly in the mining sector. He holds various qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and a Professional Diploma in e-Technology. Andoh has been actively involved in community leadership and development and has served in various capacities within the APSU 2002 Year Group.

The statement also highlighted the role of Bernard Abaka Acheampong, Secretary to the Planning Committee and an Ex-Officio member of APSU 2002. With a background in Governance and Conflict Resolution, Acheampong has been a longstanding member of the National Executive Council of APSU National/Worldwide.

The Executive Committee expressed confidence in the ability of the appointees to support the Convenor and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure a successful and memorable anniversary celebration. The statement was signed by Andy Asafu-Adjaye, Secretary of the APSU 2002 Year Group.
