Accra: Political activist Frank Kwaku Appiah, commonly known as Appiah Stadium, has issued an apology for the derogatory remarks he directed at former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to Ghana Web, Appiah Stadium, a fervent supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed that his comments against Akufo-Addo were fueled by anger over remarks made by Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Member of Parliament for Bantama, about President John Dramani Mahama. Following a call from President Mahama, who reprimanded him for his statements, Appiah Stadium acknowledged that his words were inappropriate.
He stated, "Mahama called and scolded me. He said that he watched my video yesterday and that he wasn't happy with what I said against Akufo-Addo because no follower of his should utter the words I did." Appiah Stadium further admitted that, upon reflection, he understood the wrongness of his words and felt compelled to publicly retract them to demonstrate the good upbringing of Mahama's followers.
In his apology, Appiah Stadium also addressed the supporters of the former president and the entire Ghanaian populace. He explained that his initial reaction was triggered by Asenso-Boakye's comments, which suggested that President Mahama opposed the progress of Asanteman. "JM, I don't want anything to taint your good works, and so I want to apologise to every Ghanaian," he said, urging forgiveness from Akufo-Addo's supporters and all citizens.
