Accra: Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), has emphasized that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity. He conveyed that through Jesus' death on the cross and subsequent resurrection, God demonstrated a decisive victory over death while offering believers the promise of eternal life.
According to Ghana News Agency, Apostle Mensah made these remarks during his homily at the conclusion of the GCCI Greater Accra Regional Easter Convention held in Frafraha, near Accra. The event was themed 'Living to Win, Church and Disciple'. He asserted that Jesus' resurrection ensures the future resurrection of believers on the last day. Furthermore, he highlighted the imminence of Jesus Christ's second coming, during which each individual will be rewarded according to their deeds.
Apostle Mensah elaborated on the motives behind Jesus' second coming, stating that Jesus will return to judge everyone based on their actions, as supported by biblical passages. He quoted, "For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil," and cautioned Christians that God would judge the secrets of every man.
He also outlined the necessity to prepare oneself, the Church, and the world for Jesus' second coming, emphasizing that spreading the gospel globally is crucial for this preparation. Apostle Mensah appealed to Christians to adequately prepare for this anticipated event.
During the convention, Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, the immediate past Ghana National Council Chairman of GCCI, launched the Church's 35th Anniversary Celebration. Founded on April 1, 1991, at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, GCCI has expanded its presence to countries such as Togo, Benin, Gabon, and the Ivory Coast. The founding fathers include prominent figures like Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah and others.
Currently, Apostle Mensah serves as the Chairman of the Executive Council of GCCI, while Apostle Dr. Samuel Vincent Ansah holds the position of Ghana National Council Chairman of GCCI. Past Chairmen include Apostle Prof Asuming-Brempong and Apostle Dr. Joseph Kwabena Antwi.
