Manchester: Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo has announced that the Black Stars will showcase Ghanaian culture at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. Semenyo emphasized the importance of displaying Ghana's cultural heritage on football's biggest stage after the national team missed out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
According to Ghana Web, the Manchester City forward expressed his intentions in an interview with CBS Sports, stating, "We want to show our culture." Semenyo, formerly with AFC Bournemouth, also shared his excitement about potentially celebrating a goal against England at the World Cup. He said, "If I score for Ghana against England at the World Cup, I will probably dance with the whole team."
The Black Stars are set to make their fifth appearance at the World Cup and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Ghana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by a crucial match against England in Boston. The group stage will conclude with a match against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
