Akosombo Power Control Centre Incident: Energy Minister Asks GRIDCO CEO to Step Aside

Accra: Mr John Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, has asked Mr Mark Awuah Baah, the CEO of Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), to step aside pending investigations into a fire incident at the Akosombo power control centre.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, indicated that there had been a significant shake-up in the leadership of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region. The statement further mentioned that at 014 hours on Monday, April 27, Mr John Jinapor would hold a major briefing regarding recent developments in electricity distribution.
