Akatsi south: The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Akatsi South Municipality concluded successfully on Friday, with no instances of examination malpractice reported across all six examination centers.
According to Ghana News Agency, a total of 1,540 students, consisting of 761 males and 789 females from 83 public and private schools, participated in the week-long examination. Mr. Karim Ayaana Umar, the Akatsi South Municipal Director of Education, shared in an interview that the examination proceeded peacefully despite facing challenges related to health and absenteeism among candidates.
Mr. Ayaana highlighted that five pregnant students and a nursing mother took part in the examination. The Directorate, along with supervisors and health officials, ensured that these candidates received the necessary support throughout the process. Although there were some absenteeism cases, they did not hinder the smooth conduct of the examination.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Ayaana stated, "No case of examination malpractice was recorded in any of the centers, and we are grateful to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful organization of the examination." He acknowledged the efforts of security personnel, invigilators, supervisors, teachers, parents, the Municipal Assembly, and other stakeholders for their cooperation.
He also advised parents and guardians to oversee their wards and ensure that post-examination celebrations are conducted in a decent and safe manner. Several candidates expressed joy and relief upon completing their exams, noting that while some papers were challenging, they were manageable. They voiced optimism about achieving good results to continue their education at the senior high school level.
The atmosphere after the final exam was lively, with candidates celebrating, exchanging greetings, and taking photographs. The examination, which started on Monday, was closely monitored by officials from the Ghana Education Service and security personnel to maintain a peaceful and incident-free environment throughout the Municipality.
