Accra: The Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has assured the public that a comprehensive report will be released following an ongoing investigation into a recent aircraft crash incident that occurred at TMA Daycare Centre, close to Oninku Drive Basic School.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. John Wumborti, the Acting Commissioner of the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau, stated that the team had successfully retrieved the wreckage and all relevant materials needed for the investigation. Speaking at the incident scene, he emphasized the thoroughness of the process to ensure transparency and accuracy in the findings.
Mr. Wumborti further explained that the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the Air Force, provided logistical support by supplying a truck to transport the wreckage to a secure location. The debris will be kept at a hangar at the Ghana Air Force for protection and further investigations. He noted the absence of a black box on the crashed microlight aircraft, which necessitates a heavier reliance on other investigative methods.
Investigators have conducted extensive witness interviews with those present during the incident to support the investigation. The acting commissioner mentioned that different approaches would be employed, with the AIB adhering to general rules and established procedures to guide their work effectively.
He also commended the rapid response and coordination among various agencies, including the Ghana Aviation Authority, Ghana Police Service, the military, and the Ghana National Fire Service, as well as other relevant agencies, highlighting their crucial roles in managing the incident.
