Goaso: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCoP) James Annor, the Ahafo Regional Police Commander, has called on community members to maintain their trust and confidence in the police force to support efforts in combating crime.
According to Ghana News Agency, DCoP Annor addressed a news conference in Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital, to refute allegations that the police disclosed the identities of their informants. He emphasized that the confidentiality of informants was assured and protected by the police. DCoP Annor expressed concern that in many cases, it was the informants themselves who revealed their identities to the public.
He stressed that all information handled by the police administration is treated with strict confidentiality. He encouraged individuals who distrust the informant system to directly approach a police commander to provide information.
DCoP Annor urged informants who believed their identities had been leaked by the police to file an official report. He emphasized that modern policing and crime combat require shared responsibility, assuring informants of their absolute safety and security.
He concluded by stating that whenever an informant provides the police with information, they diligently follow up until investigations are concluded, reinforcing the police's dedication to building and strengthening police-civilian relationships in the fight against crime.
