Cape town: The nominees for the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 Awards have been announced, highlighting the companies, projects, and individuals driving innovation, investment, and growth across Africa's energy sector. The awards feature 12 categories that span the full energy value chain, celebrating achievements that are shaping the continent's energy future.
According to African Press Organization, winners will be announced during the AEW 2026 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, which is set to take place on Tuesday, October 13, in Cape Town. The ceremony will gather ministers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to acknowledge excellence in areas such as upstream, downstream, gas, power, local content, technology, and corporate leadership.
The African Service Provider of the Year category includes nominees such as GeoEnergy Group, recognized for advancing digital transformation through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, and KAESO, acknowledged for expanding indigenous engineering and technical services across African markets. Other nominees are One Titanium, SONILS, and NIPEX, each contributing significantly to Africa's energy landscape.
In the International Service Provider of the Year category, NOV is noted for supporting major energy developments with engineering and equipment solutions. Technip Energies and SBM Offshore are recognized for their work in engineering expertise and offshore production, respectively. Geoex MCG and Africa Global Logistics are also included for their pivotal roles in seismic data and logistics solutions.
Local Content Champion awards highlight Seplat Energy for maintaining a 98% Nigerian workforce and Copia Group of Companies for their efforts in Angola's energy value chain. In the international realm, TotalEnergies Uganda and NOV are commended for their local workforce development initiatives across African markets.
The EandP Leader of the Year category acknowledges significant discoveries and developments by companies such as Shell, Renaissance Africa Energy, NNPCL, and Eni, each making substantial contributions to exploration and production in regions like Namibia, Nigeria, C´te d'Ivoire, and Angola.
Refinery and pipeline projects are also celebrated, with Dangote Refinery and Cabinda Oil Refinery recognized for their impact on refining capacities in Nigeria and Angola. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline and African Atlantic Gas Pipeline are noted for their strategic roles in regional energy infrastructure.
The Deal of the Year category includes Trafigura's $1 billion oil prepayment agreement with Gabon, and Heirs Energies' acquisition of a stake in Seplat Energy. UTM FLNG and Levene Energies are also highlighted for their transformative agreements in Nigeria's energy landscape.
CSR Project of the Year nominees include Mozambique LNG for flood recovery efforts and Oando Foundation for educational improvements in Nigeria. Other projects by Kosmos Energy Ghana, Sonangol, and Eni focus on entrepreneurship and clean cooking initiatives.
The Gas Monetization Award features Levene Energies for advancing gas commercialization, while Congo LNG and Amufert are recognized for projects in the Republic of Congo and Angola. NOV APL Norway is also noted for its offshore LNG production support.
In the Technology Innovator category, TotalEnergies and SOLA Group are highlighted for their digital and renewable energy projects, respectively. Shearwater and TGS with Starlink are recognized for innovations in seismic data transfer and ocean-bottom node technology.
Finally, the Power Africa Developer category celebrates TotalEnergies for inaugurating a large hybrid renewable energy project, alongside Siemens Energy, Globeleq, and Infinity Power for their contributions to gas turbines, renewable energy, and infrastructure development, supporting Africa's growing power demand.
