Accra: Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has highlighted a significant difference in the internal dynamics of Ghana's two major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He underscored that, unlike the NDC, which effectively unites its members, the NPP often struggles to achieve similar cohesion.
According to Ghana Web, Afenyo-Markin shared his observations during an interview on AsaasePa Radio in Accra. He pointed out that despite the internal challenges faced by the NDC, particularly in Parliament, the party's leadership has a remarkable ability to rally its members to set aside differences and work towards common goals.
In his remarks, the Minority Leader noted that such unity is less evident within the NPP, even at the parliamentary level. He stated, "What makes the NDC different and look more organised than us is that they are able to come together easily. They are able to get collective easily. You may see them having problems. Even in Parliament, I see them having problems among them in the Majority, but when they are whipped, they all come together as if there is no problem."
Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need for the NPP to address its internal disunity, suggesting that the party's inability to unite hinders its potential impact. He concluded, "That is our weakness, and so we need to work on these so that the individual talents that we have will have that collective power to have an impact, and that impact is what will bring us to power."
