Rabat: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says it is looking into incidences of improper behaviour during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between host Morocco and Senegal. The CAF issued a statement condemning the actions of some players and officials after Sunday night's match in Rabat, stating that 'it would review all available footage and refer the matter to the appropriate disciplinary bodies.'
According to Ghana News Agency, CAF said it strongly opposed any inappropriate behaviour during matches, particularly actions directed at match officials or organisers. On the pitch, Pape Gueye struck a sensational extra-time winner as Senegal edged Morocco 1-0 to secure their second continental title in a final dominated by controversies.
Prior to Pape Gueye's winner, tempers boiled in the last moments of regulation time after referee Styven Moutsassi handed Morocco a penalty following a lengthy VAR review. Some Senegalese players momentarily walked off the pitch in protest, which has been condemned by the football community. The players later returned, only for the tournament's top scorer, Brahim Daz, to drag the spot-kick wide as Morocco missed out on their second AFCON title.
