Accra: Seth Kofi Kissi, the spokesperson for former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, has firmly refuted claims that the remains of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, were ever held at Transitions Funeral Home. In a recent interview on Neat FM, Kissi shared that Adwoa Safo had entrusted him with the solemn duty of retrieving her late father's body, ensuring it was transported securely for the funeral rites.
According to Ghana Web, reports circulated on July 30, 2026, suggesting that the Ghana Police Service had intervened and halted the hearse carrying Apostle Kantanka's body. However, Kissi clarified that these reports were inaccurate and that no such seizure had occurred. He highlighted that Adwoa Safo had arranged for a specially commissioned new vehicle, one that had never been used or seen before, to transport the late spiritual leader's remains from the mortuary to the funeral location at Gomoa Mpota.
The assertions from Kissi came amidst an ongoing legal dispute regarding the funeral arrangements for Apostle Kantanka. The Accra High Court had issued a 10-day interim injunction on July 29, 2026, preventing Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral plans until a pending case was resolved. The court's directive aimed to maintain the current arrangements while the core issues were deliberated. Despite this legal hurdle, the funeral rites commenced, drawing thousands of mourners to Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, underscoring the significant respect and admiration Apostle Safo Kantanka commanded.
