Adu-Boahene Trial Sees Defence Present Emails on Cash Withdrawals

Accra: The Defence team in the ongoing trial of Mr. Kwabena Adu-Boahene and two others has tendered a series of emails related to cash withdrawals from the accounts of Advantage Solutions Limited and its subsidiaries. These documents were presented during the cross-examination of Madam Mildred Donkor, the third Prosecution Witness.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Samuel Atta-Akyea, the Defence Counsel, questioned the witness about withdrawal requests and bank transactions allegedly executed on the instructions of the accused. The Counsel referred to exhibits that included withdrawal requests from Advantage Solutions Limited's accounts in favor of Madam Edith Adumuah.

Madam Donkor acknowledged that while not all exhibits were related to Madam Adumuah's withdrawals, some transactions did occur. She confirmed a withdrawal of GHS100,000, and another of GHS1 million, made on August 16, 2024. She added that these transactions would be visible in the bank statements.

Mr. Atta-Akyea suggested that Madam Adumuah personally withdrew a total of GHS22.8 million from accounts linked to BNC Communications Bureau Limited, Advantage Solutions Limited, and their subsidiaries. However, Madam Donkor stated she could not verify this total.

Madam Donkor also confirmed that Mr. Stephen Arthur was sometimes authorized to withdraw funds on behalf of Madam Adumuah when she was unavailable. She was instructed to send emails facilitating these payments to Mr. Arthur. Email communications showing payment instructions to Mr. Arthur from Advantage Solutions Limited's accounts were then presented.

The prosecution did not object to the emails being admitted into evidence, which included communications dated March 2, 2023. Madam Donkor confirmed that Mr. Arthur's withdrawals would also appear in bank statements.

Mr. Atta-Akyea suggested that Mr. Arthur withdrew a total of GHS13.89 million, but Madam Donkor could not confirm this amount. The Defence also referred to four additional emails requesting payments to one Osei Tutu, which Madam Donkor confirmed, with one sent directly by her.

The Defence moved to tender these emails into evidence, and the case has been adjourned to June 9, 10, and 11, 2026, for further cross-examination.
